BODAC

BODAC

At Jotem Water Solutions, we are deploying the revolutionary BODAC technology for industrial applications to combat biofouling and develop a plant with the lowest possible Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).

BODAC, developed by NieuWater and supported by Nijhuis Saur Industries, uses biological activated carbon filters where processes such as adsorption, desorption and biodegradation take place simultaneously. This technology is already being used on an industrial scale as pretreatment to stop bacterial growth on RO membranes, curbing chemical cleaning and significantly extending membrane life.

At the BODAC filters in the ultrapure water plant in Nieuw-Amsterdam, where about 8200 m³/h of ultrapure water is produced from RWZI effluent, it has been found that the stabilised biology on the filter bed is capable of far-reaching removal of micropollutants. Recent studies have shown that removal efficiencies of >80% on selected drug residue guide substances can be achieved. With our growing presence in the re-use market in the Netherlands and elsewhere, we are ready to further roll out this innovative technology and contribute to sustainable water treatment.

  • Low carbon footprint
  • The activated carbon does not need to be regenerated or replaced
  • Ideal pre-treatment for e.g. demineralised water systems
